Chocolate Strawberry Custard Pie

Mmmm…chocolate covered strawberries in a PIE! Yum. At least, that's what I intended when I thought this one up. It's very simple to make and in theory the flavors should work. Let's see how it turned out.
To start, I gathered the following ingredients:
1 premade pie crust
~5 cups halved strawberries
3 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp tapioca
1/2 tsp orange extract
1/2 tsp vanilla paste
1.5 cups sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
3/4 tsp nutmeg

First, preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Then combine your dry ingredients. Beat the eggs with the milk and extracts and add the tapioca. Then add them to the flour mixture.

Fold the strawberries in and then spread them in the pie crust.

Place the pie in the oven and bake for about an hour until set. Since this is a custard, it would probably be a good idea to chill it for several hours after it's cooled down before serving.

Overall, it is DELICIOUS! I think the next time I make it I'll cut back the flour to just a tablespoon or two so that the the pie retains a more custard-like quality -as you can see from this picture, the top gained more of a brownie like texture, but it was ooey gooy underneath. Perhaps adding a top layer of pie crust would also help this along. I would also decrease the nutmeg to about 1/4 tsp-it's delicious as is, but I want more of a strawberry flavor to be prominent.
